In the Meantime Diet Option

by Joanna McCain
(Roby, TX)

My son Stanton is now 10 years old, and he does not eat solid or "real" foods. He is not on a feeding tube, but is on a Dr. prescribed "diet" of what we call his chocolate milk, it is a combination of Carnation Instant Breakfast (chocolate flavor) and Ovaltine (chocolate NOT the malt) and 2% milk. We are working on getting him to eat "regular" foods, but, for the mean time he is very, very healthy and with his "diet" gets everything he needs, if not more, in nutrients and vitamins than most children. His chocolate milk is available to him whenever he wants so he does not "go hungry".

Never give up hope for "normal" eating habits, but until then, I hope that this "recipe" for a healthy diet for your children of any age to try can help. It has saved my sons life. And it saves me the worry of him not being healthy until he does start eating solid foods. It helps to keep his eating therapy separate from his chocolate milk, so if something goes wrong with a new food tried,he won't shut down and starve himself. Again, alleviating worry and stress for the both of us. I hope this helps!!! My email is toejammajo@yahoo.com if anyone wants to talk to me about it. We all need support, so that we know that we are not alone in this.
