Jason's story

My son Jason is 3 year and 3 month old. I think he may have SPD. He is very smart boy with great memory. He could count up to 100+ and recognized both upper and lower case alphabet when he was 2 and half. He started talking when he was 18 month old.

Now, he hardly answers any question. He refuses to use toothbrush, eats by himself with utensils at home, fights hard when washing his head. The most frustrating thing is he refuse to wear any thing with buttons, zippers or stitches. If we force the cloth on him, he will freak out first, then screaming and crying.

Jason is bit late in term of crawling, walking. He just know how to jump in April this year. There are many more odd behaviors, I don't even know where to start.

All I think now is every kid is unique. Jason is no different. I am just confused whether we should force him to wear things he refuses to wear. Where I can find winter jacket without button or zipper?

He is against anything new NEW
by: Jason's mother

We are now in the process of changing his shoes because his old shoes (he has been wearing it for one year) are too small. If I realized the problem a year ago, I would buy many pairs.

Alterations?? NEW
by: Marcie

I know that with my son it wasn't really the button or the zipper itself that bothered him, it was if they touched his skin. I have had to on occasion alter some of his things. Put "patches" over zippers or domes. Is this possibly a solution for you?
