Mommy

My 5 year old has trouble with fine motor skills. We bought pasta noodles in different shapes. She would sort and count the pasta and we would take the macaroni noodles and thread them on yarn to make necklaces and bracelets. Cheap, fun and it works.

Great idea!

She would also benefit from stringing the pasta herself, if her fine motor skills permit. Using gimp (which is somewhat stiff) rather than regular yarn would enable her to hold the string in one hand and the pasta in the other (developing hand-eye coordination as well as fine motor skills).

Another idea is to dye the pasta different colours. This way she may sort by colour or form patterns in her jewellery.
