Nystagmus

My 9 year old grandson has Nystagmus. Over the past six months he gets very tired and irritable early evening and cross. Nearly every morning before school he says he has a tummy ache and doesn't feel well and doesn't want to go to school. Has anyone out there any ideas what could be wrong?
