My daughter is 23 months old. She jumps hard everywhere. This information is VERY helpful to me. Thanks! She attends Early Intervention due to a supected developmental delay at 18 months. I'm just beginning to research why my daughter jumps all over. She has a twin brother & he has no concerns yet. They were 5 & half weeks early at birth & she was 3 lbs. less in weight with more concerns in INCU.

jump away! by: Anonymous
the previous post has some great suggestions. just thought would add a couple more thoughts and resources.
my son is a jumper as well. it serves purpose for him. it's input that he needs but it's also an outlet for energy, which he has a lot of. he's very sensory seeking. he has to often do things harder, longer, some times faster, than many other kids to get the same effect. and that's okay. we have implemented hurdles in the backyard, a trampoline, obstacle courses that provide similar types of input, swimming has been a great tool. we also using the brushing technique and the joint compressions as well, on regular basis. my child also benefits from a weighted lap pad for certain events and situations and also a weighted blanket.
we have benefited from some great readings and some work with an occupational therapist. if you have concerns at all, it's worth your time to seek out a professional that can address your concerns and give some direction. :)
good luck.

He sounds like my son. My son also jumps a lot some days. Many children with SPD like to jump because it gives them pressure input in their joints/ligaments. Have you tried brush therapy? Do you have a weighted vest or blanket for him? Do you have an Occupational Therapist you can discuss this with? Below are a couple links to my website that specifically talk about the jumping and other SPD issues/topics.
