Kaiser and SPD

by Cherrish

I am sorry if this has been asked before.

I truly believe my son (age 3.5) has SPD and would like to get him assessed. We have Kaiser Permante insurance and I am wondering if anyone has been successful in getting appropriate evaluation/services through Kaiser? Just wondering if it is best to go through Kaiser or am I wasting my time?

Thank you in advance.

child with SPD and Kaiser in California
by: Anonymous

Hello, I have a child with SPD. She is in fourth grade. Her type of SPD is mostly related to her inability to access her executive functions. I worked with her doctor at Kaiser and was able to get a screening. That's all they would do unless the child is diagnosed with autism. I now had to pay for OT sessions privately. But it will be worth it if it helps mitigate the long term effects of SPD.

Dear concerned mom I wondered the same thing about my son and yes I took the leap of faith and had him evaluated and it was the most benefical thing I did there are so many resources out there that a lot of parents don't realize. and if you are not at the point where u are overwhelmed yet u will and u have to make sure u can get some help when needed.
