Medication for SPD

Our Daughter is six years old and she was diagnosed with SPD one year ago. We have gone to OT for a year now. She has a great success with OT.

The Doctor wants to put her own prozac for her anxiety.

Has anyone had experience with giving SPD kids Prozac?

If so what kind of side effects did you see?

My son was 10 when he was put on Prozac. By 11 he was suicidal. Really. Do the research.

Celexa NEW
by: Anonymous

My son is 2 and he has been diagnosed with SPD. He has been prescribed an SSRI called Celexa-a very small dose but it has worked WONDERS!! You can definitely tell if he has missed a dose. On the medication he is just a normal, happy little boy. Off of it, the slightest thing frustrates him and he has lots of melt downs. We have not tried Prozac but I definitely recommend the Celexa.

prozac NEW
by: Anonymous

My son was about that age when they had put him on prozac. It helped for awhile. Then he got to a point when it didn't. He has anxiety and SPD, I think his anxiety is a product of SPD. It's always worth a try.
