Ineractive Metronome Therapy
by: Dr. Joel Sussman

I have not sent you our latest experience in treating sensory disorders since my first entry. We are using Interactive Metronome therapy in addition to traditional Sensory Processing therapy. We use it on every Autistic Spectrum Disorder (including Asperger's)who wants to try it. Dr. Stanley Greenspan has done a number of studies on it and it promises to help a wide range of problems--from autism to the problems or work rate for ADHD patients. We will even use it to help baseball players who are a millisecond off their timing. You can get more information on it from www.interactivemetronome.com.

One fascinating example is a 20 year old woman with agenisis of the corpus collosum (absence of the connecting part of the brain.) She hadn't spontaneously spoken to me in 15 years of following her. After the treatment, she spoke to me and is now off all medicines. Amazing!!!

We are very impressed with this type of therapy and look for more innovative techniques as they come down the pike. Not everything is helpful and there are a lot of charlatans out there, but we try to keep our minds open but our suspicions in tact so as to not look at every new invention as the best thing since sliced bread.

Unbelievable effect
by: Anonymous

Auditory listening therapy has brought about significant changes in my son. It has a very calming influence and expands speech and vocabulary and co-ordination tremendously. I would highly recommend it to you.

Listening therapy
by: amanda

My son did listening therapy a few years ago. I am assuming this is the same as sound therapy. It was a program that his OT set up. He had to listen to different CD's, that were "prescribed" by them twice a day for 30 minutes each time. To me it sounded very garbled and weird, but it helped him tremendously. Would recommend it to anyone. We saw significant changes within 1 week. Highly recommend trying.
