SPD & socialisation

I have a grandson who has been diagnosed with SPD. he will be turning 4 soon and I'm wondering if how important it is for him to be socialising with his peers before he gets to school. I would hate to think that he might be considered naughty or lazy once he hits school. Is socialisation important for children with SPD?
